Abhyangam
appliation of oil to the skin followed by massage in specific directionin well known by the name of Abhayanga in Ayurveda.Along with nonsexual pleasurable sensation.
Depending upon the prakruti of a person, when oil is used in abhayaga,it supports the maintenance of excellence of body tissues. Hence is recommended in normal person for routine practice.Further when the oil is selected according to the illness of diseased, it cures the disease & also a method of drug administration.

Swedana
Induction of sweating for therapeutic purpose is referred by the name of swedana in Ayurveda. This may be used either for promotion of health or for promotion of health or for curing the illness. By definition the procedure that alleviates the stiffness of the body, relieves sense of heaviness, and cures feeling of cold is called Swedana.
These effects are achieved by increasing the natural process of perspiration. Sweat is a form of waste. According to ayurveda,sweat is produced during the metabolism of medas vis-à-vis adipose tissue, and this sweat has considerable role in maintenance of proper balance of body fluids. The process of sweating also involves eliminations of waste and toxins from the body. These natural functions of the sweat are utilized for the therapeutic purpose in the swedana procedure. Swedan is a form of treatment, employed to cure specific disease or to relieve symptoms like pain, stuffiness or contracture that may manifest as a symptom in different diseased conditions.

Virechan
Virechana is most effective therapy of Pitta related disorders. It is not only intestinal cleanesing while it is whole body cleanesing by creating a medicated diarrhoea. It eliminates all toxins & waste products through anus.

Basti
The combination of herbal oils, decoctions, ghee, salt etc. is given through the anus into the intestine. It is most effective therapy for Vata disorders.

Nasyam
Nasal drops in each nostril for elimination of excess bodily humours accumuleted in sinuses, throat, nose & head areas. ‘Nasa hi Shirso Dwaram’ it means nose is the doorway of the Brain according to Ayurveda.

Shirodhara
Continuous pouring of decoction, oil, or other herbal liquid on the forehead and then allowing to it to flow over to scalp, using a special instrument known as Shirahseka, this is popularly known as shirodhara. Here pouring of oil is not following by any massage.
